Der Kenko Teleplus HD DGX 1.4x ist mit Manual- und Autofokus Optiken verwendbar. Die Mindestöffnung sollte mindestens f4 betragen um ideale Ergebnisse erzielen zu können. Der TELEPLUS ist mit TTL (Belichtungsmessung durchs Objektiv) und AE (automatischeBelichtungssteuerung) kompatibel. Zusammen mit dem TELEPLUS 1.4x reduziert sich die Blendenöffnung des Objektivs um eine Stufe. Dieser Lichtstärkeverlust wird automatisch auf die resultierende kleinere Blende korrigiert (z.B. von 2,8 auf 4). Das Fotografieren ist möglich ohne besondere Einstellungen vorzunehmen. Dennoch kann es je nach Motiv und anderen fotografischen Bedingungen nötig werden, Belichtungskorrekturen vorzunehmen.
Die als EXIF-Daten von der Kamera aufgezeichneten Werte der Brennweite und Blende stellen bei Verwendung des TELEPLUS die für das Gesamtsystem resultierenden effektiven Werte dar. Beispiel: Wird ein Objektiv mit einer Brennweite von 300 mm mit dem TELEPLUS Konverter kombiniert, so geben die EXIF Daten der damit gemachten Fotos 420 mm an.
Kenko Teleplus HD DGX Telekonverter wurden für digitale und analoge SLR-Kamera entwickelt und vergrößern die Brennweite von Objektiven. Kenko Teleplus Konverter werden einfach zwischen Kamera und Objektiv montiert und übertragen, dank dem Gate Array IC Systems, elektrisch die Informationen wie Autofokus oder Blendensteuerung. Die im Bild hinterlegten EXIF Daten bleiben also, inkl. Umrechnung des Verlängerungsfaktors, erhalten. Die Verwendung des Kenko Teleplus HD DGX 2,0 verdoppelt die Brewnnweite und vergrößert, aufgrund der unveränderten Naheinstellungsgrenze den maximalen Abbildungsmaßstab.
